Sora Bulq - Page 2

On Geonosis, Sora Bulq was part of the task force of two-hundred Jedi sent to confront Count Dooku and the Separatist leaders. Many of the Jedi he fought alongside were his former students. While Master Bulq was one of the few to survive, many of his students did not. At the time of the battle Sora Bulq's Padawan was the Klatooinian Galdos Stouff who was one of the many Jedi who died that day. Witnessing the loss of so many former students, including his own Padawan, was one of the driving forces toward Sora Bulq's fall to the Dark Side.

Following the Battle, Jedi Master Bulq was feared dead. However, he did, in fact, escape alive and joined Jedi Master Tholme in the hunt for Count Dooku. The pair tracked the Sith Lord to the remote planet of Bakura and engaged him in a fierce lightsaber duel. During the fight, Count Dooku goaded and taunted Tholme and Sora into succumbing to the Dark Side. In an impressive display of lightsaber skill and Force-lightning, Count Dooku bested the Jedi team with seemingly little effort. Following the battle, Dooku left Tholme for dead and claimed an unconscious Sora Bulq to take with him as he continued his journey.

During the time spent with Dooku, the Sith Lord played on Sora Bulq's fascination with the Dark Side and his dissatisfaction with the path the Republic had taken. Manipulating these emotions, Dooku convinced Sora Bulq that the Jedi were no longer protecting the principles of the Republic and that it was in fact he who was fighting to save it. The Sith Lord persuaded the Jedi Master to join his ranks in order to initiate a change. Once Dooku had broken down this barrier, it was easy for him to begin Sora Bulq's indoctrination to the Dark Side. Realizing that Jedi Master Tholme would be useful for their purposes, Dooku had Sora Bulq save the life of Tholme and help him escape Bakura. Tholme believed it was the help of an old friend, but by that time Bulq had turned traitor.

Once Sora Bulq had fully embraced the Dark Side, become a Dark Jedi, and a trusted member of Count Dooku's inner circle, the two developed a scheme to gather more Jedi to their cause. The eruption of the Clone Wars created the necessity for the Jedi to adopt untraditional roles as generals of the newly commissioned Grand Army of the Republic. While some Jedi took up these new positions with zeal, others objected on a philosophical level and disagreed fundamentally with the idea of leading beings bred for war into battles where their only purpose was to fight or die. Dooku and Sora hoped to capitalize on this schism that was forming between the Jedi.
